Kirsty has practised in nutrition for over 16 years and has worked in a variety of settings and countries including community nutrition, acute hospitals, universities and specialist clinics, from rural towns in Victoria, to the United Kingdom (Belfast, Norwich and Manchester) and Australia’s largest private hospital in Brisbane.
Kirsty Shaw graduated from the University of Wollongong as a dietitian with first class honours.
Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs) have the qualifications and skills to provide expert nutrition and dietary advice. APDs are university-qualified professionals who undertake ongoing training and education programs to ensure that they are your most up-to-date and credible source of nutrition information, in line with the professional standards set by the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA).
Through years of competing in and training for endurance and ultra-endurance events, including running (trail and road), cycling, open water swimming, and Ironman, Kirsty has developed an appreciation for the practical application of the nutritional science in this area. She is invested in keeping abreast of current research, and is personally and professionally motivated to continually learn about endurance sports nutrition.
To achieve accreditation in sports nutrition, dietitians undertake further studies and practical experience. There are ongoing hours of learning and professional experience required to maintain this accreditation.
Kirsty has undertaken further study and assessment to deliver best practice in fluid balance and sweat testing through The Sweat Lab.
